Roma!

We are on sensory overload today.  We started at 7:45 am to go on the tour for the Monuments; Trevi Fountain, the Parthenon, the columns of Rome, obilisques, etc, etc. St Peter's Basilica. We had gone to St. Peter's  the first day back when we frst arrived. Must have been dumb luck, there were no crowds whatsoever that time and we went right in. Thank goodness today , we were on a tour because the line was through the carrels and all the way arouond St. Peter's Square. Tours get to skip the line! But it was crowded we guess because the Pope sanctified 6 new saints yesterday. (To my friend D.M., I did not see the Pope to give him your message ;-). In the afternoon, we went through the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. We got back to the hotel at 6:30 pm.  We will post pictures soon.
We are at a different hotel this time around and we vote San Remo Hotel here better than Hotel Select. Select has NO ELEVATOR, very small room (my son would not be able to fit in the shower) , and their breakfast is not as good as San Remo; plus the desk clerk at Select has a pissy attitude! Example, this morning I dropped the soap in the shower, had to open the shower door to bend down to pick it up! It was hilarious,and happened twice! Next time I want to be able to afford the Excelsior!
